Bells are Ringing…

With the holidays upon us, there is a new level of frantic busy-ness in the air. One tool I’ve started to use to help me decide where to spend my time is a normal bell curve.

After all, we can’t be good at everything, only great at a few things. Taking a beat to remind myself where I want to be great, where I’m ok being at the back of the pack, and where I’m not playing at all is a helpful reminder that I don’t need to do it all. I don’t even need to do everything I do all that well – just several carefully selected commitments where I want to shine. Knowing all of this makes deciding how to spend my time much easier – after all, why spend my time making some giant holiday dinner when being an accomplished at home chef just isn’t a priority to me?

I’ve created a 15 Minutes Happier worksheet to help you think through your precious few priorities as well as where you may want to give yourself permission to be average.

If you’re not sure what you want to be amazing at, consider the wise words from Oprah:
Knowing what you don’t want to do is the best possible place to be if you don’t know what to do. Because knowing what you don’t want to do leads you to figure out what is it you really do want to do.

Regardless of which end of the bell curve you start on, you will have a clearer picture of where to spend your time. If you decide to use this activity, let me know what worked well for you. #15minuteshappier
